The 3rd International Symposium on Tomato Diseases is organized by the University of Basilicata, Dipartimento di Biologia, Difesa e Biotecnologie Agro-Forestali, under the auspices of International Society of Horticultural Sciences (ISHS) and the Patronage of the Associazione Italiana per la Protezione delle Piante (AIPP), Società Italiana di Patologia Vegetale (SIPaV), Società Italiana di Nematologia (SIN) and Società di Ortoflorofrutticoltura Italiana (SOI).

It is the first time that this meeting will be hosted in Italy and it is a source of pride for our University to have been able to get the selection of our country. This type of event is an important scientific opportunity to promote the image of the Italian University and territory in an international context highly qualified.

Previous editions of this event (Orlando, Florida, USA, 21-24 June 2004, Kusadasi, Turkey, 8-12 October 2007) saw the participation of over 300 people each, with speakers and specialists of international repute coming from around the world. The conference will consist of 5 days of study and debate, and in parallel exhibitions will be organized by the sponsoring companies.

At the end of each day, a plenary session is also foreseen in which sponsors can give a technical-scientific contribution to the conference.
